Position Summary

As a Mid-Level Automation Technician, you will combine solid technical skills with advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to ensure the safe and reliable operation of onshore oil and gas production facilities. You will interpret engineering design documents, commission new control systems, validate loops, configure field devices, and explain control-logic functionality while recommending solutions for system performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Reliability

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and field instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, vibration, etc.).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with industry standards (API, NEC, NFPA, ISA, IEEE).

Operations Support

• Provide onsite automation expertise for well pads, tank batteries, SWDs, and compressor stations.
• Act as subject-matter expert, recommending improvements to increase uptime and safety.

Programming & Configuration

• Develop and modify PLC logic (ladder, function block, structured text) and HMI graphics.
• Commission and validate loops, alarms, and interlocks using P&IDs and Cause & Effect documentation.

Systems & Data Management

• Leverage CMMS tools (e.g., SAP) for maintenance tracking and planning.
• Follow Management of Change (MOC) procedures and corporate PLC standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Work safely around energized systems and within confined spaces or aerial platforms.
• Support rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of oilfield experience with at least 3 years in upstream automation.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Rosemount equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting control networks (ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, fiber optics, RF).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
