Flat Work/Civil Cost Estimator
About the Role
OCG Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and data-savvy Flat Work/Civil Cost Estimator to join our growing team. This role is critical in supporting our business development efforts by preparing competitive bid packages for a variety of infrastructure projects including flat work, green infrastructure, sewer systems, and water main installations.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyze large volumes of data to develop accurate cost estimates.
· Research and stay current with market pricing for various technical specifications.
· Collaborate with multifunctional teams to gather input and assemble comprehensive bid packages.
· Review and interpret technical documents and RFQs to extract relevant information for unit rate bid sheets.
· Maintain organized records of all bid packages and ensure timely submission.
· Navigate project posting websites to identify and track potential bidding opportunities.
· Develop familiarity with technical drawings and specifications to support estimation accuracy.
· Serve as a liaison between business development and project teams, ensuring alignment and clarity on deliverables and milestones.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
· Excellent communication skills—able to clearly convey technical and pricing information to team members.
· High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to technical specifications and industry standards.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and bid documents.
· Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, or estimating preferred.
· Familiarity with project posting platforms and solicitation processes is a plus.
