Job Description

Our cutting edge B2B client is seeking a driven Assistant Counsel - Patent Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in patent or intellectual property management, alongside a demonstrated interest in corporate and commercial law.

This position is hybrid onsite in Philadelphia. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, patent office proceedings, and industry events.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies for patent filings and prosecution related to alloy compositions, manufacturing methods, and additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Advise business units on patentability and potential infringement risks in connection with new product development.
  • Manage the Company’s global patent portfolio and prosecution docket.
  • Work with R&D and engineering teams to identify and protect patentable innovations.
  • Participate in freedom-to-operate and competitive landscape reviews.
  • Assist with intellectual property due diligence and licensing transactions.
  • Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements, including confidentiality, product development, license, supply, distribution, and procurement contracts.
  • Deliver compliance training and support ongoing improvements to the company-wide compliance program.
  • Provide legal support for acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate development activities.
  • Assist in management of external counsel and litigation matters as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania bar membership in good standing.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 3–5 years of patent experience, ideally with a focus in materials science or manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience with international patent filings (PCT, national phase) is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to trademark and licensing issues is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with solid project management abilities.
